Housing Support for Muslims in the UK

Housing Support is for households who are still in their home but at risk, or who have just moved and don’t have the basics yet. We point you to the right financial or practical help, and to qualified housing advice for anything legal.

Who we can help

Muslim families and individuals across the UK contact the platform with three repeating housing situations: rent arrears that risk a Section 21 or eviction; sudden moves to a new property without beds, white goods or basic furniture; and households where benefit changes have left a gap that won’t close before the next bill cycle.

We can help connect you to community helpers who may cover a one-off cost, point you to local Muslim charities running household-essentials grants, or share a route into a council’s discretionary housing payment.

What we don’t do

We do not provide regulated tenancy advice. For disputes with landlords, possession proceedings, Section 21 notices or rent repayment claims, please contact Shelter (0808 800 4444) or Citizens Advice. The platform’s helpers can sit with you while you make those calls and translate jargon, but they cannot represent you.

Services under Housing Support

Room Needed — Muslim Community UK

Whether you’re a new student, a key worker relocating, or a brother/sister between situations, this page connects you with Muslim households across the UK who have a room available — short-term, lodging, or longer.

Temporary Accommodation Support UK

Sometimes a family needs a place to stay for a few weeks — between properties, during a relationship breakdown, after a fire or flood, while waiting for council housing. This page helps you find that space and connect with the right UK services.

Host Family Short Stay UK

If a family member is visiting from abroad, a student is between accommodations, or a relative needs a few nights near a hospital, a host family from the UK Muslim community is often the warmest option.

Shared Housing for UK Muslims

Shared houses and HMOs are the cheapest way for a single Muslim adult to live in most UK cities. This page connects you with other UK Muslims looking to share a property — gender-matched, prayer-friendly, halal-kitchen.

Emergency Shelter for UK Muslims

If you have nowhere safe to sleep tonight, the urgent steps are: contact your council’s housing options team and Shelter on 0808 800 4444. This page explains those routes and how the Muslim community can support alongside.

Deposit Help Guidance UK

Rental deposits are one of the biggest upfront hurdles for UK Muslim families moving home. This page covers the basics — how deposits are protected, what schemes can substitute for cash, and where the community can help.

Tenancy & Rent Advice for UK Muslims

Tenancy questions touch every Muslim family at some point — a Section 21 notice, a rent rise, a landlord refusing repairs, a deposit deduction. This page sits alongside Shelter and Citizens Advice as a community guide.

Utility Bill Help for UK Muslims

Energy and water bills are one of the most common pressure points for UK Muslim families. This page connects you with community Sadaqah, the supplier hardship funds you may not know about, and energy-saving advice.

Homelessness Prevention for UK Muslims

Most UK homelessness is preventable if action starts early enough. This page sets out the legal protections you have, the people to contact today, and how the Muslim community can help cover the gap.

Mosque Stay Coordination UK

A handful of UK mosques quietly host travellers, students stranded between lets, and newly arrived families for one or two nights. This page connects you with helpers and mosque committees who can coordinate a stay where one exists — and signposts safer routes when it doesn't.
