Lock Repair & Change Help in the UK

Last updated 21 May 2026

After a move, a relationship breakdown, a lost key or a wear-and-tear failure, changing a lock is one of the most common UK household jobs. This page connects you with Muslim handymen and locksmiths.

WHO THIS PAGE IS FOR

  • Households after a move
  • People who've lost a key
  • Domestic-abuse survivors needing safer locks

Which lock you actually need

UPVC doors use Euro cylinder locks — easy to change with a single screw if you've got a copy of the key (about £15–£40 plus 20 minutes labour). Anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick cylinders are recommended for front doors. Composite doors use the same Euro cylinder. Traditional wooden doors use a mortice lock or rim cylinder — bigger job to replace.

Locked out

If you're locked out and the door's UPVC, a locksmith can usually open it without breaking anything via lock-picking or bypass — £80–£150 typical. If a quote is suspiciously low, the locksmith may drill the lock and you'll pay for replacement. Always agree the worst-case price first.

How Muslims Help Muslims works

1

Submit your request or browse support

Create a free account, pick the category that fits your situation and write a short, honest post. You can stay anonymous in the public listing.

2

The platform connects you with helpers

Helpers and donors browsing your city or category will see the request and message you privately to offer support.

3

Talk it through safely

Agree the help in private messaging. Share only what you need to share — never share bank details publicly.

4

Close the case and follow up

When the help has landed, mark the case closed. Optional follow-up keeps the door open for further support if needed.

Trust and safety

Email verification gates the messaging system, and sensitive details are never shown on the public homepage. You can post anonymously, limit who can contact you, and decide what to share in messages.

Muslims Help Muslims is a connecting platform — we do not hold or distribute donations, and we don’t claim to vet every helper. Always keep bank details out of public posts, take your time when accepting offers, and read our Safety Tips before posting your first request.
