Muslim Hospital Visits in the UK

Last updated 21 May 2026

A hospital stay can be lonely even with family around. This page connects UK Muslims in hospital with community visitors — for du'a, conversation, or just to sit alongside a relative.

WHO THIS PAGE IS FOR

  • Muslim patients in UK hospitals
  • Families needing visit cover
  • Volunteer visitors and Muslim chaplains

Visiting in NHS hospitals

Most NHS hospitals welcome visitors during open hours — check the specific ward's rules. Muslim chaplains are available in larger hospitals (request via the chaplaincy team). For ICU and specialist wards, visiting is often restricted to next of kin — community visits aren't possible.

What's appropriate to bring

Plain water, dates, fresh fruit (with ward permission), prayer beads, a Quran, a charged phone for video calls with family. Avoid strong-smelling foods and large groups (most wards limit to 2 at the bedside).

How Muslims Help Muslims works

1

Submit your request or browse support

Create a free account, pick the category that fits your situation and write a short, honest post. You can stay anonymous in the public listing.

2

The platform connects you with helpers

Helpers and donors browsing your city or category will see the request and message you privately to offer support.

3

Talk it through safely

Agree the help in private messaging. Share only what you need to share — never share bank details publicly.

4

Close the case and follow up

When the help has landed, mark the case closed. Optional follow-up keeps the door open for further support if needed.

Trust and safety

Email verification gates the messaging system, and sensitive details are never shown on the public homepage. You can post anonymously, limit who can contact you, and decide what to share in messages.

Muslims Help Muslims is a connecting platform — we do not hold or distribute donations, and we don’t claim to vet every helper. Always keep bank details out of public posts, take your time when accepting offers, and read our Safety Tips before posting your first request.
