Wall Repair & Paint Help in the UK

Last updated 22 May 2026

Walls take a beating in a busy Muslim household — door-handle dents, picture-hook holes, hairline cracks where the plaster has moved, plus the inevitable scuff marks. This page connects you with helpers who can make a wall look new again before paint goes on.

WHO THIS PAGE IS FOR

  • Muslim families repainting a tired room
  • Tenants prepping for the move-out inspection
  • Helpers with plaster/decorating skills

Pick the right filler

Tiny pinholes: lightweight one-coat filler (Polyfilla or own-brand). Cracks under 5mm: standard powdered filler mixed thick. Cracks over 5mm or actively moving: Easi-Fill plus scrim tape. Deep gouges in plasterboard: two passes with feathered edges.

Sand, prime, paint

Sand the filled area smooth with 120-grit, then 240-grit. Spot-prime patched areas — unprimed filler absorbs paint at a different rate and shows through as a 'ghost' patch. Then paint two finish coats across the whole wall, not just the patch.

Tenancy-deposit angle

Filling holes is reasonable wear-and-tear in UK tenancies; leaving them is grounds for a deduction. The cheapest tenancy fix is a £4 tube of filler and a £5 paint match — far less than a £40 deposit deduction per wall.
